Many of us are probably familiar with the saying, “April showers bring May flowers.” I think this is a great life reminder. There will be showers of stress, disruptions, setbacks, death, uncertainty, and doubt, but they are watering the seeds of our faith and life. Some showers are sprinkles that end just as fast as they start. However, others are torrential downpours that cause flooding, wreaking havoc on our lives. Either one has purpose and have the ability to teach us a lesson, provide revelation, prune dead weight from our spaces, increase our wisdom and anchor our faith. These shower seasons are not easy, but they are essential. Without water things die. Think about when you feel dehydrated or seeing the brown blades of grass, you and the earth need water to function.
We need the showers. We need the water. We need the storms. Yeah, I get it, the showers aren’t that fun. But let’s think about it a little more…sometimes the rainy season, makes us pause and wait.
I have heard many people, say ” Oh, don’t go yet, let’s wait until the rain slacks up.” Have you ever experienced those kind of moments, waiting for the rain to slow up or stop? What happened? In my experience, while waiting I’ve engaged in more conversations, laughter or simply resting ( rain sleep is the best). Then there are showers that flood and damage things, those moments require us to clean up and throw things away. Just like the floods in our lives that upend our routine and causes us to start over again. In all of these situations, the flowers still bloom. The flowers still bring joy to our eyes, as they flood our world with color and beauty. The flowers still perfume the air with their scents, which brightens our moods. The flowers’ seeds weather the storm and insist on becoming what they are meant to be.
When you hit your April shower season, be hopeful and stay encouraged, our Creator can and will bring the flowers, be ready to bask in the beauty of your blossoming growth. Let the showers water you and prepare you for the blossoming.
