It’s Graduation Time!

It’s Graduation Time!

We are quickly approaching graduation season. This is such an exciting time for the graduate, families, friends, and educators. The ceremonial walk and hearing that music, whew, it lets you know that the time has come. The tests have been taken! The courses have been passed! The lessons have been taught and learned!

I remember many times throughout the course of my educational journey having moments of great joy and dread. However, I never stopped. I  continued to do the work and surrounded myself with support, yep, including at times having to get a tutor. Long story short, I graduated.  As an adult, there are many times in which I have graduated, just like you. There weren’t any senior pics, caps and gowns or textbooks, but there were plenty of tests. All of us have been given tests to pass.

Our lives are full of times when there is a lesson that we need to learn or ways in which our character needs to be matured. In the school of life, we will experience challenges and difficult decisions. Sometimes those challenges are related to our family, career, health and relationships.  During those experiences we learn how to cope, how to turn stress into motivation, how to ask for help, how to strategically use information, and rely on our  faith to make wise choices. Afterwards, we are better. Even if at first it doesn’t feel or look like it;  we are. We are better because we have been elevated to another level; we have graduated. These lessons allow us to help ourselves and others. We cannot stay at the same level; well, I guess we could, but that would be unproductive. The opportunities to grow and elevate are  needed to help you be effective in living  your purpose. Let’s recognize  that challenges are part of life, but there’s a choice in how you interact with them. Don’t be afraid of the tests.

After the lesson is learned and the challenge has been conquered, now it is time to celebrate your graduation! Your graduation from  mediocre to excellence,  from fear to fearlessness, from self-doubt to self-confidence, from bothered to unbothered. I celebrate with you! It’s graduation time!
