There are so many things that as children we dreamt of doing and accomplishing. In our childhood I believe that many of us experience the freedom to explore and imagine. We allowed space for the impossible to dared be thought of and conceived in our minds. In youthful times, we harnessed the power of our imagination and were encouraged to believe and dream.
Then, adulthood happened. That thing called, “growing up”! In this space we rarely hear the encouragement to dream. Many times, we hear the advice of, “Girl, I wouldn’t do that if I was you. I don’t think that is a good idea.” Even though, they didn’t give you the time or courtesy to hear the plan or the dream. Before it could be described it was silenced by the doubt and fear of someone else.
Trust me, I believe in wise council and seek that from people that I consider trusted advisors. However, we need to make sure that we are not surrounded by dream killers. The people that persuade you to stay on the shore and sow seeds of fear in your mind when you dream of venturing out into the depths of innovation, creativity, and purpose.
Most of the purposeful dreams are never birthed because they require us to trust and have faith beyond our power. It is safe and comforting to have the power to make your dreams come true. I would like to challenge you. If every one of your dreams can be handled through your power, then you are not dreaming purposeful dreams. Our purpose is fueled by faith and divine intervention that positions us, prepares us, and promotes us. Our dreams should be on a purposeful level not a common one. When we understand that our purpose is not for us but is a gift to others. Let’s open our minds to receive the bigger dream, the bigger assignment, the bigger experience, then we will see the manifestation of Ephesians 3:20 Amplified Bible, “ Now to Him who is able to (carry out His purpose and) do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think (infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams), according to His power that is at work within us.”
My dear Sisters, dream big purposeful dreams. Tap into that inner child that the dream killers tried to silence, free her to dream and imagine. Let go of the ropes and anchors of disbelief and cynicism, free yourself to believe!
