Lies are Dangerous!

The Danger of Dishonesty

It seems that our world is more accepting of dishonesty. People are comfortable with telling lies and never stop to evaluate the danger of their dishonesty. Who is the person, community, or organization that will be adversely impacted because the truth was trampled. When I was growing up, my parents and the elders in my family made sure to instruct me on the importance of integrity, truth, and the harmful consequences of lies. It appears that many adults either didn’t get that instruction or they are choosing to be lulled into the belief that the truth doesn’t matter. They are fooled by their illusion that lies will bring them power and relevancy. Ha imagine that… soon the radiance of the truth will brilliantly expose the liar and their pit of lies.  Those of you that are the liars, here is a little advice, STOP IT!

Believing a lie is just as dangerous as telling  the lie.  What lies are you believing about yourself that are causing challenges in your life? It is essential that we are aware of them and intentionally not believe and refute them. People and the media will tell us that we are weak and inadequate. Do not believe it! There are lies that shout that we can’t define success on our terms. The lies that exhaustion should be worn as a badge of honor and that overscheduling equates to being important.  The lie that there is one beauty standard. These types of lies are dangerous to our well-being and purposeful living. When we confirm to these lies, we set ourselves up for failure. So, be on the watch for the Big Lie! They are Big Lies because they can quickly overshadow us and have a detrimental effect on our mental wellbeing, our purpose, families and life. When you spot the lie, call it out and disarm it and do not allow it to become your truth.
