Our area has gotten very little rain. Everything is crunchy and brittle. Green space isn’t so green, but rather patches of green in the midst of brown parched grasses and dirt. There were even fire hazard warnings issued.
This can sometimes be the description of our lives. Seasons of dryness, that produce nothing vibrant. The seasons can be marked by moments of grief, lost opportunities, strife with loved ones, and a feeling of confusion. We may feel alone and consumed with the ills of life. That is when we need refreshing. One of my favorite scriptures of promise is Proverbs 11:25, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” There are people around us that are in a season of drought, their hope, compassion, expectation, joy and energy have been stretched and have bent to the weight of their circumstances. In that valley space they are parched and thirsting for someone to be generous with their prayers, resources and kindness.
Let’s be intentional in noticing who needs a refreshing. When we refresh others there is a biblical promise that we will be refreshed. Sis, you know exactly what I am describing. Yes, you are sowing seeds that will someday bring a harvest of refreshing for yourself, but doesn’t it feel good when you help others. Knowing that you have made an impact on someone’s day, circumstance and life is a good feeling that brings authentic joy.
Join me in being generous with your encouragement, resources, hope, gladness and peace. The world needs it! Imagine your community and my community if all of us refreshed others and then because of our generosity, we were refreshed. We would build a community of love, respect and create lasting change. Spending time with Jesus, allows us to be refreshed, in order to refresh our friends, family, coworkers and leaders.
A few days ago we had two days of rain. Guess what happened, yep, things started sprouting and growing. The grass was greener on the other side of the fence and on my side, LOL. I saw one of my plants start to bud; I was planning on pulling it up but it just needed the rain to refresh it.
Refresh. Renew. Refresh. Restore. Refresh. Reenergize.
