Still Kind
Recently, I have been reminded of my responsibility to be kind even though______,(you fill in the blank).
During our journey we will be confronted with many revelations and truths, some of them will snatch us off our feet, because they are unbelievable. Over the past months, I have seen and interacted with people that I know have spoken lies about me or my family, tried to sabotage plans, allowed their silence to agree in meetings of plotting, and the list could go on and on.
Later on, these same people will smile, want a hug, and act as though they are Team Karen or at least well wishers. It is in these moments that we are called to kindness, stillness and discernment. I know you want to confront them, but your strength is to remain calm and hold on to your boundaries. Imagine how exhausted and unproductive you will be if you chased down every lie, gave energy and relevance to every hater or became consumed with trying to prove to them your worth. Let’s agree to not give them a stage to direct our lives. Nope, stop it!
You are called to purpose on purpose. Let them run their mouth, while you run your journey. Let them be bothered by your focus, character, success, blessings and joy.
Let them wither in jealousy as you dodge the daggers of hate and betrayal. They will continue to plot, scheme and be cowards. They will continue to whisper venomous words to attempt to poison your credibility and character.
In these moments, we will not cower or catch feelings. We will pray and be guided by the Holy Spirit, as we watch the table be prepared for us in the presence of our enemies (Psalm 23).
Honestly, I laugh and chuckle because they think they have won, guess what?
I know what you said and I see how you move, but I choose kindness and unbotheredness, because of God. There is strength in being still and kind.
Romans 8:31-32 NIV
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
